Evaluation Lesson Plan
J’aime Holderbaum
4th grade Art/Tech
December 13, 2013

Anticipatory Set:
Discuss how one of the ways artists learn to draw is by copying.  Once they have the techniques down, they then use what they have learned to express their own creativity.  Some artists teach other artists how to draw by making how to draw books.  Show an example book.
Tell students that today we will be learning how to make a step by step drawing tutorial using both art skills combined with the technology of the iPad app, Pic Collage.  Show an example of a completed Pic Collage.

Objectives:
Students will create a digital step by step tutorial illustrating how to draw an object using the Pic Collage app on the iPad.

Standards:

ART.VA.II.4.1  Synthesize the use of a variety of materials, techniques, and processes to problem solve in the creation of art.

ART.VA.II.4.6  Incorporate the uses of different technologies to show artistic expression through an original artwork.

ART.VA.V.4.3  Identify connections between technology and the arts.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.2 Write explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.6 With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others.
Modeling:
I will show them a completed example of a drawing along with a print out of a Pic Collage that gives step by step instructions on how to draw an object.
I will demonstrate how to draw draw an object one step at a time and use the iPad to take photos of each step.
I will demonstrate how to use the Safari search engine to search for examples of an object they choose to draw.
I will demonstrate how to use the Pic Collage app to import photos and add text to give directions.
I will model how to save.
As I model I will also demonstrate how to use the art materials.

Guided/Independent Practice:
Students will work with a partner to create a step by step tutorial of how to draw an object using the Pic Collage app and art materials.
As students are working I will move around the room to guide students that need help.  I will allow students to work independently that are able to.

Closure/Conclusion:
This assignment will be extended in computer class next week. Students will upload their Pic Collage to their class Edmodo page(If there is time in art class they will upload their pic collage in art).  Students will have the opportunity to choose two drawing tutorials made by their classmates and follow the tutorial to make the drawing.  They will use Edmodo to make comments on their peers drawings.
